How I Glow Up Before a Big Trip ✨
Share
You know that feeling when a trip is coming up and you want to feel good, not just look good? That glow that starts on the inside and shows up in your energy, your skin, and your confidence?
Here’s exactly what I do to glow up before I travel (especially if I know I’ll be eating more, drinking more, and running around with less sleep than usual). These are simple, natural shifts that make a huge difference for me — inside and out.
1. Cut out alcohol ahead of time
I love a glass of wine or two as much as the next girl, but if I know vacation is going to come with extra drinks and cheat meals, I try to cut out alcohol completely for 1 week before I leave.
I notice a huge difference in my digestion, sleep, and skin (less puffiness, less inflammation, more glow). Plus, it makes me feel more in control of how I show up for the trip.
2. Do a gentle cleanse (like the Kroma 5-day)
I just started the Kroma 5-Day Reset and honestly, I already feel amazing. It’s a gentle cleanse made up of superfood broths, teas, and supplements that nourish your body without leaving you feeling depleted.
I like to add lean protein like chicken or cod to the broth to keep me full, and I drink chlorophyll water or ACV with cinnamon to help support digestion and detox. By day five, I feel lighter, clearer, and more energized.
If you're looking for a more intense option, you could try ProLon, which is a more structured 5-day fasting-mimicking program — or even a DIY veggie soup + hydration reset for something simpler.
3. Move your body + get in the sun
Even if I’m not doing intense workouts, I make sure I go for daily walks outside, stretch, or do a light Pilates flow. Movement increases circulation, supports lymphatic drainage, and boosts your mood big time.
I also love a quick, easy 30-minute HIIT workout mixed with weights — it leaves me feeling strong and energized, and it’s great for natural GLP-1 production, which helps with appetite regulation and blood sugar balance.
Sunshine = bonus glow.
4. Schedule a dermaplane + gua sha consistently
One week before I travel, I book a quick dermaplane to get rid of dead skin and peach fuzz. Then I commit to gua sha every single day the week leading up.
Consistency is the key — even 2–3 minutes in the morning helps with puffiness, sculpting, and getting my skincare to absorb better.
5. Prioritize deep sleep
This one is tricky for me because I still bartend a few nights a week for that extra cash flow — so I totally get the struggle of not getting a perfect 8 hours.
But I’ve learned that quality sleep matters just as much. I wind down with a magnesium mocktail, use my red light or sauna blanket, and try to avoid screens before crashing. Even if I only get 5–6 hours, those rituals help my body actually rest and repair.
Sleep is when your skin heals, your gut resets, and your hormones rebalance. It’s the one glow habit that truly makes a difference.
6. Use a clean, non-toxic self-tanner
No one wants to show up pasty on day one, but I stay away from tanning beds completely. Instead, I use Loving Tan Purist Mousse (Yuka score: 79/100 — which is amazing for a self tanner).
I apply it 1–2 nights before I leave and wake up with a natural, even glow that makes me feel way more confident in minimal makeup. And if I’m on a longer trip? I totally pack it with me. I just wrap the bottle in a reusable zip bag and toss it in my checked luggage — no regrets.
7. Take your collagen every day
I never skip this. Collagen helps support your skin, joints, gut, and overall glow. I use The Glow Haus Grass-Fed Collagen (unflavored!) in my morning coffee or water with lemon + minerals. It's such an easy win.
8. Be consistent with your supplements
I know it gets tricky sometimes — life gets busy, we forget, and routines get thrown off. But staying consistent with your go-to supplements really makes a difference, especially leading up to travel.
Here are a few of my current favorites:
-
Hum Nutrition Skin Squad – Pre + Probiotic for gut and skin support
-
Hum Nutrition Daily Cleanse – Great for clearing and detoxing from the inside out
-
JSHealth Detox + Debloat – So good for digestion and feeling lighter before a trip
-
JSHealth Hair + Energy – Love this for a little extra boost in my glow
These have all become part of my weekly ritual, and when I stick to them before travel, I feel so much more balanced. I even bring a few with me when I travel — especially the Detox + Debloat, which is a lifesaver after long flights, new foods, or anything that throws off digestion.
Bonus Tips:
-
Hydrate like it’s your full-time job — add minerals to your water
-
Cut back on sugar for 5 days if possible
-
Dry brush before showers to support detox and smooth skin
Glow doesn’t happen overnight — but a few consistent shifts can completely change how you feel going into your trip.
